Dr. Shaad Bidiwala is a board-certified neurosurgeon with almost a decade of private practice experience in the surgical management of herniated disks of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, as well as the treatment of tumors and injuries of the brain, spine, and spinal cord.
Born and brought up near Louisville, Kentucky, Dr. Shaad Bidiwala obtained Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Electrical Engineering before finishing medical school at the University of Louisville. He completed his residency training in neurosurgery at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in 2004, and joined Texas Neurosurgery in Dallas afterwards.
Dr. Bidiwala's engineering background and passion for providing patients with the best possible outcomes fuel his keen interest in using the latest technologies in spinal surgery. These include minimally invasive techniques for access to the spine, intraoperative imaging with Xrays and CT, and nerve root and spinal cord monitoring, which, together, result in faster recovery times, and a quicker return to a normal life. As an attending neurosurgeon at one of Dallas's two ACS Level-One Trauma Centers, Dr. Bidiwala has an extensive experience in managing catastrophic injuries to the brain, spine, and spinal cord.
Dr. Bidiwala and his staff share the common goal of bringing the most compassionate care and cutting-edge technologies to the patient's bedside in order to treat even the most difficult spinal and neurosurgical problems. Patients who see him in the office undergo a thorough workup and participate in detailed discussions regarding their disease processes and all available treatment options. Except for in emergent or urgent situations, surgery is always viewed as a last resort.
Dr. Bidiwala has operating and admitting privileges at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Baylor Uptown, Medical City Dallas, and the Methodist Hospital for Surgery in Addison, where he is a Past President of the Medical Staff. Dr. Bidiwala has been voted by his peers as best doctor in D Magazine over 15 times. He has been the recipient of numerous Vitals, HealthGrades, and Patient's Choice Awards since he began practice in 2004.
In one of the only studies of its kind in recent years, consumer advocacy group MPIRICA listed Dr Bidiwala as the only surgeon in Dallas and one of only two surgeons in DFW with “Excellent” outcomes for both cervical and noncervical spinal fusion surgery.” based on their analysis of over 4900 hospitals and 123,000 surgeons.
